About StudioDax

Welcome to the StudioDax blog… I hope you find something interesting here!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Creating unique jewelry has always been a real passion to me, and when I unexpectedly entered “early retirement” (ie: I got laid off from my corporate job!), I decided to make a life change and become a full time jewelry designer and instructor.

I love working with metal – the warmth and flow of silver and copper speak to me, and my jewelry often reflects patterns and organic elements inspired by nature and different cultures. The treatment of the surface is where science meets art – textured, etched, antiqued, and shaped – the malleability of metal encourages me to experiment and expand. I am always looking at ways to use new techniques and bring new materials into my jewelry making, keeping my designs fresh and vibrant.

So why this blog?

Well…. part of the reason, is so that I am always moving forward and thinking of something new. Sometimes creativity needs a nudge, so hopefully my postings will help kick start an idea when I’m feeling a bit stale. And, since other artists and craftspeople motivate me to to create and grow, I’d like to think that maybe I could do the same for others.

So have a look around, and enjoy your visit!

And if you visit the San Francisco Bay Area, I would love to see you in one of my classes. Please check out my class schedule at my StudioDax website.
